If you are an adventurous investor and are interested in emerging markets then you may find the case for investing in India a compelling one. We take a look at some of the positives this interesting area has to offer.

India offers a unique investment opportunity. According to Jupiter Asset Management, not only does the country account for nearly one fifth of the entire world's population but the average age of its inhabitants is only 27. In fact nearly 70% of Indians are under 35 and with a rapid growth in the middle classes, its society and economy are on course to change dramatically. India defines 'middle class' as someone who earns between $10 and $100 per day. At present this accounts for 50 million, however this figure is set to reach 475 million by 2030. Another example of rapid growth can be shown in registered internet subscriptions. In 2010 there were 20 million online users, however by 2015, this rose to 350 million. By 2020 this figure is expected to be in excess of 730 million.

It is generally accepted that the appointment in 2014 of its President, Narendra Modi, has made a huge impact on the future direction of India. He, along with his business friendly government have looked at the issues holding back growth such as lack of infrastructure, healthcare and education and launched projects to counteract these obstacles. Their initiatives in financial inclusion have been a real success. By linking bank accounts, social security and health insurance, this has in fact lifted millions of people out of poverty and into their formal banking system. They have also made great progress replacing local state sales taxes with a single goods and services tax which promises to radically improve the efficiency of all levels of business in India.

Avinash Vazirani, manager of the Jupiter India fund believes that India has a wealth of innovative, high quality companies ready to answer the changing needs of Indian consumers.
