Fidelity International has decided to modify the investment style of the Fidelity American Fund from its current growth bias to a more neutral style which gives greater flexibility to adapt to changes in market conditions. As a result, Sujay Kodlikeri will be taking over management responsibility of the Fidelity American Fund from Aditya Khowala on 1 June 2017.
Sujay has proved himself as a talented stock-picker by managing Fidelity's US Equity Pilot Fund since November 2014, generating excess cumulative returns of 3.7% gross of fees. His investment style throughout his investment tenure has been more balanced and therefore is suited to the fund's modified investment style. Aditya Khowala will continue to manage the FF American Growth and FAST US SICAV funds.
Sujay's investment philosophy is based on the premise that industry structure is a key component in a company's ability to generate sustainable cash flow. He feels it's critical that management incentives are aligned to create shareholder value. As a result, he believes that those companies generating and growing their free cash flow that have aligned management incentives will be able to successfully grow their franchise value.
Fidelity has one of the largest and best-resourced buy-side US equity teams outside the US, composed of 4 dedicated Portfolio Managers supported by 18 analysts. The assets managed by their US equity team stand at US$17.5bn (as at 31/03/2017).
